PATRICIA GABRIELLE DOLOR
driven by empathy, motivated by truth and inspired by love
ABOUT PATRICIA GABRIELLEI believe in the power of words. From writing in my secret journal at 8 years old, to writing poetry since I was 13, to writing articles, profiles, features on stories on mental health, activism, art and more. The art of writing, in whatever capacity it may be, has always provided me a space to share my most authentic self. Based in Mississauga, Ontario and attending school in Toronto, Ontario - I got to see first hand the importance of diversity and the issues marginalized communities face. In my writing, I strive to be an empathetic storyteller and write stories with compassion. As a spoken word poet, I’ve been performing for over 7 years in various spoken word slams such as BAM! Youth Slam, Toronto Poetry Slam, and The Roots Lounge. I’ve worked with various initiatives to spread awareness on social justice and mental health issues - two topics I continuously vouch for, with passion and strength. I’ve worked with The Open Gallery in events they have hosted for funds for CAMH, and in junction with Visual Arts Mississauga, events that surround the importance of youth using their voice. I’m looking to spread my passion through my journalism and spoken word, knowing the importance of representation in the community, the impact of empathy and the strength of art.
Spoken Word Poetry
My spoken word performances extend my storytelling beyond journalism, using poetry to explore lived experiences with depth and care.
PHILOSOPHYI believe in the power of words to hold space, for truth, for vulnerability, for community. My storytelling lives at the intersection of journalism and art, where facts meet feeling and stories are told with intention. I write with empathy at the centre, knowing that behind every headline is a person, a history, and a voice that deserves care. For me, storytelling is not just about sharing information, it’s about creating connection, amplifying voices, and leaving something that lingers.
“I believe journalism should do more than inform. it should connect. My work is rooted in community and guided by empathy, with a deep understanding that every story holds a lived experience. In a fast-moving media landscape, I choose to slow down, to listen, and to tell stories with care, because when stories are told with intention, they have the power to build connection, shift perspectives, and create meaningful impact.”
